Eccentric art-rockers Black Bordello have shared an expectedly macabre delight in 'Daddy'. Arguably their most ambitious work to date, the 6-and-a-half minute opus is haunting and profound. Combining the spooky and theatrical with jazzy instrumental chops, it feels like an important moment for the South East London-based band. Accompanied by an equally dark an ostentatious video, which sees band leader Sienna Bordello getting wed before clambering around in a larger-than-life replica of her father's shoe, she explains: "Daddy" is the most emotionally honest and difficult song I've ever written. It follows the processing of my father's tragic death through theatre and surrealism. It is a ballad about my relationship to my own father, and how his absence has re-sculpted my identity. I was also thinking about the broader aspect of 'The Father' religiously and societally when I wrote the song.”
