All eyes are on Leeds quartet Adult Jazz right now. Their arrival - a brace of deliriously weird indie-funk tracks ‘Am Gone’ and ‘Springful’ - at the end of last year struck a chord with the blogs and mainstream equally. Guitars squirm, drums stutter and ragged harmonies entwine as brass parps scramble for attention on their latest 10 minute sprawler, ‘Spook’. It’s taken from their forthcoming debut Gist Is; and although it’s never gonna make it through a Radio 1 playlist meeting unscathed, it’s still the most hook-laden, ambitious tune you’ll hear all summer.
