Eora/Sydney-based indie singer-songwriter total tommy has revealed her latest track, ‘Gutterball’. Over a prominent bass line and punchy drum beat, total tommy (real name Jess Holt) sings in a potent deadpan as distorted guitars build from wiry dissonance into encapsulating intensity around her. “My wife and I wrote Gutterball over a weekend away down on Sydney’s south coast,” she says. “It was raining and we were drinking wine, dreaming about the adventures we wanted to take together - but the timing wasn’t aligning for us. There was a sense of frustration on both sides, each wanting a bit of a shake up from our daily lives but knowing we couldn’t just yet.” The single is lifted from her new album, Trapezoid, which is out now via Play It Again Sam
