‘Real Thing’ is the rugged new single from South London band The Golden Dregs. The track is tense and sprawling, with widescreen art rock textures coming from a mixture of flamenco guitar strums, bouncy piano, funky drum grooves and a building blend of strings and fuzzy synths. Vocally, the track is guttural and menacing, with a gritty, deep voice finding a place between spoken and sung that somehow manages to provide a few earworm hooks. “It’s a different direction for the band,” says frontman Ben. “The song is exploding with energy and rubble and bloodlust and passion. The story is of a romance in amongst a group of radicals taking matters into their own hands.” The Golden Dregs’ new album, UK Gothic, is out on January 29th, 2026, via Joy Of Life International.
