The uniquely named Takeshi’s Cashew have dropped their latest track, ‘Sessellift’. The Viennese psych band have developed an extremely unique sound that brings together cosmic-funk instrumentals and medieval folk melodies – the end result is quite a spectacular blend of instrumental virtuosity and an extreme meeting of past and future. On the meaning behind the track, Jassin Bshary says: “The sessellift is a boost: a catapult that pushes you up with force for you to take full speed down the mountain. That's exactly what the track is supposed to be. Push you up so you get the full ride. The vibe of the track has the optimism of the 1990s winter sport olympic games; of a time where a ski race down the hill could have been the great climax of a teen romcom.” Takeshi’s Cashew are gearing up to release a new album, Planet Odyssey 64’, an album of cosmofunk inspired by a range of classic video game soundtracks. It drops on October 30th, 2026, via Siluh Records.
