‘Meant To Be’ from LA duo sunandmoon (made up of singer/songwriter Ogi and producer/songwriter Anoop D’Souza) is a beautifully written reflection on reconnecting with the person you once imagined becoming. The lyrics open with a woman at her lowest, shaking on the bedroom floor, before introducing a younger version of herself who appears in the moment and reminds her that their dreams are still worth fighting for. It’s a simple but deeply affecting idea, delivered through a soothing melody and gorgeous vocal harmonies.

The second verse is particularly lovely, with the harmonies almost feeling like the younger version of herself is singing alongside who she is now- a musical reflection of the conversation happening in the lyrics. There’s a real tenderness to the whole thing, with sunandmoon allowing the story to unfold without overcomplicating it. Taken from their Tug Of War EP, ‘Meant To Be’ feels like a comforting affirmation to hold onto the dreams we had before life got in the way.
