Safa blends neo-soul and jazz fusion with a stripped-back approach that lets her vocals and Will Ross’ guitar sit right at the heart of the track. Dayne Jordan’s rap verse fits naturally into the arrangement too, perfectly weaving around Safa’s vocals. Lyrically, the track feels like a little escape - creating your own private space where you can switch off from everything around you and simply exist. Having toured with Esperanza Spalding and built a serious musical background of her own, Safa is clearly no newcomer, but 'In My Own World' feels like a beautiful introduction to 'her' world.
