After years of remote collaboration, vocal artist Martha Skye Murphy and composer/guitarist Roy Montgomery have announced their joint album Nebular (via AD 93). Based in London and New Zealand respectively, the pair have featured on each other's solo works prior to this new project, as Murphy explains: “Roy and I have a shared vernacular in the music we make together; a kind of sonic sign language, which allows us to communicate without ever really explaining the material to one another. I see our collaboration as a continuously unravelling piece of string; one song leads onto the next like a slowly evolving constellation.” Headed up by ethereal oddness of 'Cloudburst', expansive guitars are shrouded in a gothic kind of darkness that almost crosses over into shoegaze. Murphy's voice is a vital instrument, elevated by celestial keys, which punctuate the timely exploration. Having created a seamless vision that feels completely connected yet distinctively their own, we're anticipating a masterpiece on August 7th.
