Australian new wave/post-punk band Radio Free Alice have released their new single, ‘Lunch Money’. It’s a driving cut that bottles up the energy of mid-2000s indie and adds the dissonance and tension of modern post-punk. The basslines are appropriately driving and the guitars both jangly and edged with a rhythmic urgency that surrounds the breathless lead vocal. They explain that this cut “came together last year in a soundcheck in Nottingham while on tour in the UK. It was the back-end of the tour and it had started getting really cold. I remember us writing it on the stage at the empty venue, all with jackets, scarves and gloves on. It was one of those songs that came together pretty instantly.” The band will be playing a range of shows around the UK this summer.
