Dedicated to the practice of songwriting as a means of inner communication, New Zealand sister duo Purple Pilgrims announce their new album with 'Innocence Lost'. Appearing on Given to the Night alongside 10 other sonic snapshots, 'Innocence Lost' opens the record with a weightless contemplation of holding on to hope in the darkness. Landing on the softer end of shoegaze, there's something deeply calming about the track, as simmering synths give rise to a simple strumming pattern that secures the whole piece. Gently evolving, like thoughts often do, the band explain: "It often feels like our songs are little messages from our future selves…The meaning tends to reveal itself with time. This song was very much that." Given to the Night will be released via AD 93 on the 27th of November.
