Peer Pleasure
List Pick
June 1, 2026
Irish post-punk nine-piece band Peer Pleasure have unleashed their sprawling latest cut, ‘Drunk Driving’. The disjointed undercurrent of garage rock energy underpins the track, which is simultaneously ferocious in its gritty, insistent low-end and deep vocal performance, yet playful and humorous in the crunch of its twanging, dissonant guitar chords, which land on the off-beats like a warped reggae. “It's a character study, a satire of reckless bravado,” the band explain. “There's just something uniquely insane about worrying more about points on your license than your own mortality. Drunk Driving was written after a heavy weekend of krautrock, synthetic cathinone and a messing around on a cracked version of FL Studio. Pieced together at one messy practice that may or may not have involved insufflation, push ups and rugs in the band room.” Catch the band live around the UK this June.
