Oral Habit
List Pick
June 15, 2026
Brighton psych-garage trio Oral Habit have returned with their latest track, ‘Chekhov’. It’s an endearing track from its opening moments, with the band’s fascination with recording live and using vintage equipment being immediately felt in its energy and the squashed, distorted guitar tone. The band find a middle ground between modern psych-rock and an almost nostalgic, gritty punk edge. Oral Habit’s new album, A Broken Chord, is out now via Krautpop! Records and they head out on a UK tour at the end of June. The band’s vocalist, Charlie Hales, says the release is “a spectrum of all of the parts from Oral Habit, from the live band recordings to the weirdo psych studio trickery. Some tracks we’ve played almost every night; there are deeper cuts; attempting to replicate a demo I made in the past and then trying to figure out what the fuck it is… so yeah, it’s an accumulation of fragments.”
