‘The Glove’ is the latest single from Brighton psych-garage trio Oral Habit. It’s a fuzzy, swaggering track that shows the three-piece at their most formidable: the crunch of a swirling guitar thrown through a valve amp, the exploratory wanderings of rumbling bass, the widescreen splash of unpredictable drums. Charlie Hales’ voice offers an emotive, grounding timbre above an accompaniment that merges Krautrock, psychedelic and punk. Founding member Charlie Hales says on the track: “We wear gloves to touch what we want without fear of pain. But if you were to live a life gloved up, do you really know what it is to touch?” Oral Habit have recently signed to Krautpop! Records, and you can catch them live around the UK this summer.
