‘Simple Sailing’ is the new single from Bristol-based indie-folk artist Myer U Clark. There’s something immediately infectious about his innocent songwriting style. Unpredictable finger-picked chords and persistently interrupted rhythms ensure that nothing is as it seems, with a distant, Syd Barrett-esque lullaby of a vocal line guiding the track’s intentional jank. He describes the new release as “a song about things going wrong out of the blue and the ability of one’s spirit to centre itself during these times - I tried to communicate this through the metaphor of a boat steadying itself after not reaching its destination.
