‘Surveillance Operator’ is the new track from UK trio Minor Conflict. The band build their tracks around deceptively calm harp melodies, but thanks to Squid’s Ollie Judge, the track is underpinned by driving rhythms and intensity. Overlapping dual lead vocals add to the track’s subtle blend of innocence and menace, with an uncanny, semi-spoken delivery that also evokes Squid. Residents is the upcoming third EP from Minor Conflict. It drops on February 12th, 2027, via Fascination Street Records and is produced by Ali Chant and partly recorded at Real World Studios: “When Ali invited us to record at Real World, ‘Surveillance Operator’ was just an early sketch and had no lyrics. In the weeks leading up to recording, we quickly developed the song and enlisted our ever-dependable friend Ollie Judge from Squid, who provided a propulsive motorik beat. Josh and Natalie then wrote lyrics exploring the relationship between seeing and being seen, influenced by the 2006 film The Lives of Others.”
