California artist Meg Lui has revealed her latest single, ‘Elvis Queen’. It’s a sprawling, ambitious track that opens without giving much away. The simple guitar accompaniment of its first verse is buried at the halfway point by a nostalgic, hook-driven chorus that itself ends up overcome by a blurry mesh of vocals, guitar countermelodies and saxophone. “This song is about my aunt who was a huge Elvis fan,” Lui explains of the track. “At first it was a very slow, sentimental song, but we sped it up for the final version. She was a very joyful person, so it made sense for it to feel a little bit like a party.” Meg Lui’s debut album, Instant Validation, is out on September 25th, 2026, via Asthmatic Kitty Records.
