Toronto's Maz B returns with 'Coast To Coast', a single that trades the more straightforward R&B of his earlier work for something looser and more textured. The Egyptian-Canadian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist spent his adolescence in Egypt before relocating to London, and that cross-cultural thread runs through the production here: a guitar-and-piano intro with a faint Spanish inflection gives way to a slow bossa nova sway, courtesy of producer YMX Beats (Drake, Sexyy Red). Strings and delicate plucked guitar fill in around a smoldering vocal, whilst lyrically, it's an ode to the harder, later stages of love. Self-described as the soundtrack to what “finding a life partner should feel like" Maz B talks about the friction, the compromise and the sense of connection. It follows Maz B's debut EP 'Apollo,' which has surpassed 30 million streams, and continues a run of dual singles released earlier this year.
