Marta Salogni & Stefano Pilia
List Pick
July 28, 2026
Sometimes a piece of music comes into your life at exactly the right time; we needed this new release by Marta Salogni and Stefano Pilia. 'e il mio fiume scorre verso te, oh mare, accoglimi' ('and my river flows towards you, oh sea, welcome me') is an expansive, cooling hymn, its gentle vocal currents as familiar and enveloping as its title suggests. Salogni's work as a producer is well-known and deservedly lauded: her credits include records with the likes of Björk, Sharon Van Etten and Kim Deal. Yet she is a formidable composer and artist in her own right, as demonstrated by this collaboration with guitarist Stefano Pilia, her manipulation of his already heavily-processed guitars through tape machines and delays resulting in something transcendental.
It's the first release from their collaborative album Phren, out 2 October via Maple Death.
