Still basking in the glow of their newly released album Son Kiss, we asked Bristol-formed Robbie & Mona to curate a playlist for us on a theme of their choosing. Known for their captivating live shows and a ghostly approach to experimental pop music, vocalist Ellie Gray provides the perfect soundtrack for sitting under a Hawthorn tree.

Lol K - Homemade Altar
Finding the tree, I take a seat, look at the branches above me, look out in-front of me , I’m on my own, I feel magical, quietly filled with tenacity and possibility.

Cat Power - Say
I feel the nostalgia of the tree, I hope all is well with the tree, wish the best for the tree, when no one is around love will always love it. I tell the tree a confession.

Mazzy Star - Disappear
Then I disappear into the other side, melt into the tree’s blossom, lucid dream breathing May air

Jonnine - Tea For Two (Boo)
The sun gets really hot on my face, and the air disappears. I get taken further behind my minds eye, watch the colours shadows and shapes behind my eyelids

Lord, his name is alive - Lord, Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace
The tree sings about peace to me, it glimmers and it shakes, the tree has an attractive voice.

Lily Montague - Day4
I eat a purple fruit pastel, chew and chew on the perfect flavour.

Anastasia Coope - Seemeely
Sent to some old playgroup places  in my mind.

Some Of My Best Friends are Canadian - Feeling Sheepish
To get out of my head, I stand up and walk round and round the tree and wave to the nearby sheep.

Nora Guthrie - Home Before Dark
Now its time to go, its nearly dark, I float home in a hawthorn tree high everything more vivid

Broadcast - Colour Me In (demo)
When I get home I draw the Hawthorn tree I sat under

Out now via Spinny Nights, Son Kiss is an underrated masterclass in avant-garde etherealism and is easily one of our favourite releases of the year so far.
