There's a weightless quality to 'Feel', the latest single from Brighton-based Brazilian artist Lau Ro, and the last one ahead of the release of their new album Lau on Mexican Summer. Traces of bossa nova flicker around the edges of this close, intimate arrangement, all syncopated guitars, bubbling sidesticks and slippery bass, providing a woozy frame for the artist's half-whispered vocal as they navigate the song's inquisitive structure. The winding verses and tentative chorus of 'Feel' unfurl gradually ahead of a swooning coda of detuned synths and shivering arpeggios, rewarding repeat listens as its intricate details emerge through the fog. There's real beauty here. Like preceding singles 'Simplesment' and 'Conclusão', 'Feel' promises great things for the full record, which is out this week. Listen below.
