'In this world, ruled by evil men, let's empower our communities. Don’t forget that we outnumber them, if we’re side by side in unity'. It’s a striking way for King Zepha to anchor ‘Lament’ - a chorus that doesn’t just sit at the centre of the track, but defines its purpose. There’s weight in its simplicity, turning frustration with power and division into something collective and constructive. Musically, it leans into a roots reggae foundation with a steady, rolling bassline and dub textures that give the track space to breathe. The arrangement reveals itself in layers - warm organs, subtle brass, and tightly stacked harmonies that add depth without ever pulling focus from the message itself. There’s a clear lineage in the sound, echoing the spirit of the past, while sitting between eras, using a familiar sonic language to speak to the present moment - grounded, reflective, and quietly defiant. This is the second single by the group from their forthcoming album, The Return of King Zepha, which is set for release on 3rd June.
