This is a subtle, texture-heavy piece of meditative jazz from Jeremy Cunningham. 'To The Sky', featuring contemporary luminaries Makaya McCraven and Sen Morimoto flutters along on a bossa nova rhythm and gradually expands its sonic palette with floating vocals, vamping guitars and fibrous percussion.

'To The Sky' is taken from Cunningham's new album, Passing Fires, which was written over a period bookended by Covid-19 and the wildfires that devastated the Pacific Palisades and Altadena in 2025. For the artist, it's "a connection between my community, make stuff in the moment, and trying to move forward and be present to the beauty of the world."
