This is a subtle, sombre new track from Irish songwriter James J. Clarke. 'Half of the Time' centres on a spare piano progression decorated with hints of brass and pedal steel, around which Clarke and guest singer Aoife DeMille unfurl a poignant breakup ballad. DeMille's vocals are especially affecting: crystal clear and precise, yet heavy with emotion.

Clarke has shared this statement on the song:

“You can see enough to know that something in your life has changed, but not enough to fully act on it. It sits in that space between awareness and action: no longer feeling that you belong in the life you’ve built, whilst also not really recognising yourself or feeling equipped for the change in front of you.”

'Half of the Time' is the first single from a new James J. Clarke album, scheduled for spring 2027 via We Go To 11.
