Philadelphia-based quartet Her New Knife have returned with their latest single, ‘Lyre’. It’s an icy track built around shifty, metallic guitar riffs and the distant, janky shuffle of drums. Edgar Atencio’s voice lands on something surprisingly melodic, considering the confusing, cyclical accompaniment that swirls around him. “It started with an arrangement I did on classical guitar, during a moment where I felt generally disaffected by music,” says Atencio. “Writing this song and playing more classical guitar invigorated me, and this song was a catalyst for the final push towards finishing our album.” The band are heading out on a US tour with Slow Pulp this November.
