‘Heartsong’ is the beautiful new track from Gretta Ray. It’s an evocative, stripped-back cut that drifts away from the electro-pop that defined her previous album, and instead places airy, folky melodies and simple textures at the foreground. The track opens with hypnotic, piano-backed vocals and slowly builds through synth textures and growing reverb to reach its bold, layered climax. The new album from Gretta Ray, also called Heartsong, is out on October 30th, via EMI. She says: “This album is a recount of how quickly my outlook on life, my priorities, my relationships and my career, changed after life as I knew it turned on a dime.”
