‘Strafe’ is the debut release from genre-bending UK project Dying 4, the solo project of Blue Bendy guitarist Joseph Nash. Nash is using the project as a vehicle for experimentation, and this track shows exactly that: the warped texture of guitars evoke an alt-rock, almost emo vibe, while the fractured shiver of breakbeats underpin his poppy melodies with garage influences. “What started as an overly involved guitar riff that I'd noodle to warm up for live shows with the band, came to life after being taken in a very non-rock music direction in Ableton,” explains Dying 4. “I've always made electronic music as a hobby, but I'm not much of a keys player.
