In her previous guise as BABii, Daisy Warne made some of the most compelling experimental pop of the last decade: strange, expansive, but so hooky and danceable. Now, following the death of her father and the birth of her son, she is a changed person, and has opened a new musical chapter accordingly, this time under her own name: Daisy*.

'Melody' is taken from her self-titled EP, released today as her first output under this alias, partly continues from where the BABii project left off (glitchy beats, airy synths, ornate yet immediate vocal melodies) but refines the sound a little: there's more focus here, more urgency. Life has thrown new priorities at Warne, and perhaps that's reflected here, but she retains her keen ear for immaculate if understated pop songwriting.
