Dublin-based experimental noise-rock trio Bucket have returned with their latest cut, ‘Strung Out’. The band are defined by the abrasive sounds they fill their tracks with: violent punk influences; thick, menacing basslines; fiery bursts of distortion; erratic rhythmic switches; heavy, brutal metal breakdowns. “The song is about the conflicting feelings of pride and shame surrounding national identity,” explains vocalist Cian Dahdouh. “We want to be proud of our country and culture, but at the same time we can’t ignore the major issues affecting it and everyone living here. We were inspired to write it after feeling that the huge growth in popularity of Irish culture and media on the global stage was something of a double-edged sword.” The band released their Mosaic EP back in April and are currently working on a new longform release.
