Eleven-piece folk collective Brown Wimpenny have unearthed their latest piece, ‘Jesus At Thy Command’. It’s a transcendental cut that leans into the band’s unique, transportive energy. It ebbs and flows across eight minutes, moving from simple, exposed singalongs and through fiddle and banjo instrumentals laced with a surprising tension. The band’s debut album, Long Live Brown Wimpenny, is out now via Broadside Hacks Recordings. They describe it as “a collection of some of our favourite tunes and songs that we’ve picked up and played around with over the last couple of years. The people and places through which we discovered this music are central to the choice of tracks on the album. From listening to source recordings of Frank Verril and Jake Thackray during rehearsals, to picking up tunes at local pub sessions, each track brings with it a little piece of the band's history.”
