Eleven-piece collective and TMR favourites Brown Wimpenny have revealed their latest track, ‘Shady Grove’. As always, this is an almost transcendent piece of traditional folk wrapped up in the band’s transportive, droney textures and provided with a subtle sense of growing experimentalism. The track came out of sessions put on by a small subset of the huge collective, who ended up teaching the arrangement to the rest of the band, “and the weight of all 11 instruments really gave it something. It's such a simple rendition; it was basically fully formed from the first time we ran it, without any rehearsal. It sounds like a runaway train and is really fun to play.” Brown Wimpenny remain an in-demand live band and will be a part of the Broadside Hacks Roster Tour this Autumn and Winter.
