‘Angel Eyes’ is the debut release from noisy Manchester-based four-piece, Brickhouse. The band’s unique sound is captured in full here. Written on an acoustic guitar by vocalist Owain Sharp, the track has been transferred to edgy distorted guitars and soaked in reverb, with wiry hooks finding space within a sharp-edged rhythm section. Their sound is grounded in noise pop and grunge, but their influences take as much from Sonic Youth as they do Lou Reed and other experimental 60s rockers. The band say ‘Angel Eyes’ is “about being haunted. Not in the supernatural sense, but rather the persistent melancholy. The lingering of memories after losing a lover and being unsure as to how to help yourself let go and be released from the curse of seeing someone in everybody else you meet.” Catch the band live around the UK this summer.
