Dublin-based rock band Big Sleep have returned with their new single, ‘Bruiser’. It’s a warped track that sits just shy of a ferocious 200bpm, with light-hearted vocal lines drifting above a neon-tinged accompaniment. The chugging bass and ride-heavy drum accompaniment underpin exploratory layer of dreamy, wide guitars, creating a texture that feels as ethereal as it does intense. On the video that accompanies the track, they say: “We were playing around with different character ideas to build the narrative around but for a while nothing was clicking. Then after watching David Lynch's Blue Velvet for the first time the exterminator idea came about and the concept grew legs from there. Iarla brought some other visual references from movies like Midnight Cowboy and Gummo.”
