‘call it a voice’ is the latest release from Brighton-based octet big long sun. This intriguing new cut is a dark piece of psych-folk. It feels paranoid and creeping, with notes of a 70s singer-songwriter mixed with the melancholy that drifts into its atmosphere. “The lyrics explore the different shades of madness that accompany solitude,” explains band leader Jamie Broughton. “Whereas ‘my stars aligning’ presents a joyful and ecstatic aspect of the big long vision, ‘call it voice’ is cold and insular.
