Italian singer-songwriter BERENICE has revealed her new single, ‘Everybody Loves Italian Girls’. It’s a flirtatious, playful track that turns the traditional love song on its head through the subtle crunch of distorted guitars and twang of funky, disco-esque bass lines. Electronic influences do find their way in, with a vocoder and the occasional squelch of synth offsetting the more organic textures. “When I moved to London five years ago, I wish I’d had a tenner for every time me or my friends heard ‘I love Italian girls’ as a chat-up line,” she says. “With the song, I wanted to flip that expression on its head to reclaim it.
