Andervel

March 18, 2026
Mexican-born, Reykjavík-based singer-songwriter Andervel has dropped his latest single, ‘Ironclad and Palm trees’. It’s a folky track that brings together an ethereal warmth from acoustic guitar and his own soft, lo-fi delivery. It slowly grows into something beautifully melancholy, encased by layers of choral vocals, piano and strings. “This song was born during a period of anticipatory grief as my grandmother’s health slowly declined, culminating in her passing. One of the hardest sacrifices of migration is building a life far from the people you first love, shaping an identity that exists between two worlds. The song was written and recorded in Reykjavík, with half of my thoughts in Mexico with my grandma in spirit, while I walked among the ironclad houses on my way to the studio downtown. The lyrics draw on memories of my grandmother’s home.” Andervel is gearing up to drop his debut album of the same name on May 1st, 2026.
