‘Bir Nazar Eyledim’ is one of the most impressive tracks from Amsterdam-based Turkish psychedelic band Altın Gün’s new album Garip. The band have impressed with each single from the album, which is a tribute to Anatolian artist Neşet Ertaş. “It's the music that I grew up with,” says Erdinç Eçevit. “When I was five, six years old, my grandfather always had cassettes by Neşet Ertaş and I used to listen to it all day long. Then I was too young to really understand the lyrics and the meaning, but I really liked the melodies.” Now that the album has been released in its full form, it is clear that it has no downtime. This particular track is ethereal and spacious, with widescreen synth pads and airy electronic drums supporting an exploratory vocal line. It grows into something truly otherworldly at points, with its climax feeling almost alien. Be sure to give Garip a listen as soon as you can.
