Dominating our listening over the first half of the year, electronic folklore outfit Orbury Common stood out with their refreshing and genuinely unique debut album Slyvan Chute. Signed to the continually reliable Moshi Moshi offshoot PRAH Recordings, the pair's enticing and varied singles 'The Resident', 'Finer Scales' and 'Jaundice & The Piperman', reeled us further into their experimentally whimsical world, having considered ourselves fans since the release of 'The Crooked Bayleaf' back in 2022. Still bubbling very much under the radar, the talent and potential of Orbury Common is plain to see as we wish them the credit and recognition they deserve in 2025. -Holly Mullineaux
