Taj Ralph is the latest in an impressive wave of indie talent coming out of Sydney. His first release, ‘Beat The Keeper’ fuses jazzy guitar hooks, The Internet-style hip-hop beats and breezy vocals, a juicy combination which has already attracted Antipodean tastemakers TripleJ Unearthed. Yet despite the track’s irresistibly chillwave opening, by far the hidden jewel in ‘Beat The Keeper’’s crown is the scuzzed up guitar solo that comes in around the 2:30 mark. This is a seriously strong start from the sickeningly young talent – we can’t wait to see what Ralph has in store for the months to come. -HM
