YVES JARVIS SEMULA
Yves Jarvis is a Montrael-based indie-folk artist. Resuming the practice of colour theory that informed his 2017 album Good Will Come To You (morning yellow optimism) and 2019’s The Same But By Different Means (midnight blue contemplation), his forthcoming album Sundry Rock Song Stock is infused with the natural state of green. As Jarvis explains, green the colour he most closely connects to his personality, moving beyond an aesthetic attraction into feelings of wildness, boundless energy, and an anti-establishment streak permeating his 23 years on the planet. Jarvis has released a new single 'Semula', alongside a nature-thirsty video, where Jarvis' favourite colour encompasses him. The song is psychedelic and gospel influenced, with atmospheric noises creating strange rhythms, paired with dense, parallel vocal harmonies. Further on in the track, acoustic guitar plucks come into play, with a curious bass part, adorned with distant kaleidoscopic guitars and distortion. Sundry Rock Song Stock will be available September 25 via ANTI-. Ellie Rose-Davies
