Arriving ahead of their debut album 45 Pounds, ‘Sickle Walk’ is the intricate new offering from staunch experimentalists YHWH Nailgun. Rhythmically engaging from the offset, complex acoustic beats interlock with punctuating 808 samples, twisted around industrial synth sounds. Vocally landing somewhere between Fever Ray, Moor Mother and Crack Cloud, the 80 second offering is an intense and visceral one, pulling you in and regurgitating you with the velocity and conviction of a hurricane. Signed to London-based tastemakers AD93, the New York band will cross the pond in support of the record (which arrives on the 21st of March), appearing at niche Dutch festival Rewire and their own London headline show at the ICA on the 2nd of April. -Holly Mullineaux
