WASH OH I'M SEARCHING
Today, we're taking some time to work back through artists we may have slept on earlier in the month - Monday morning is always pretty silent on new new music anyway. Nearly two weeks ago, Brisbane based producer-vocalist Aaron Moore dropped 'Oh I'm Searching', his latest cut under the Wash alias, and for our money, it's his finest and most complete track to-date. Aaron's style errs towards icy alternative R&B in the James Blake mould, crossed with the brooding, sweet melancholy of indie-folk dons Daughter and Bon Iver - the resulting gorgeous blend is easily likened to Chet Faker, whose emotive, carefully layered pop is seems a cornerstone of so much Australian electronic music. Indeed, gliding slide guitars ebb into sensitively applied drum machines on 'Oh I'm Searching', but much like Chet, Aaron doesn't fluster his compositions with too many elements. Why would you, with a voice as pristine as his? We'll be keeping an eye out for this talented kid next year. - DC
