Combining artistic electronics with hip-hop and modern jazz, Canadian collective THe LYONZ have dropped the video for their bold new track, ‘The Jump To Jupiter’. The track is built on funky, reverb-heavy percussion and dreamy, hazy synth chords, with poignant rapped verses contrasting the mellow, sung chorus. Lyrically, it follows a troubled man in his struggle to find safety from a life of drug abuse. It’s a hard-hitting topic that merges perfectly with its unconventional musical arrangement which uses sparse textures with as much compositional delicacy as the main melodies. This reflects the story of the song, with a hazy, dark palette adding an unsettling feeling.
