THANDII TRUST ISSUES
Thandii, the brand new psychedelic soul duo from Margate have arrived with a fantastic couple of fresh songs for our ears - 'Trust Issues' and 'Give Me a Smile'. Thandii are Graham Godfrey (Michael Kiwanuka’s world-class percussionist since day 1, who’s also played with Little Simz + Cleo Sol of SAULT) and his partner Jess Berry (band alumni of Ghostpoet & Mr. Jukes). The more mellow of the two sides, 'Trust Issues' has a sound that throws you back to early Mac Demarco and Connan Mockasin owed to the chunky bass and vintage keyboard tones. But then, when the strings arrive for a spacey and theatrical section, we're reminded of SAULT. Jess Berry sings with refreshing frankness about extending herself beyond her means when entering a romantic relationship, 'Why am I buying you shit that I can't afford and turning up unannounced at yours, this has never been me, what have you done to me. You say you wanna be exclusive with me, but I've been thinking a bit more casually'. The double A-side of ‘Give Me A Smile’ and ‘Trust Issues’ will be the only taster of Thandii's debut album A Beat To Make It Better, which arrives on the final day of March.
