LIST PICK
SONG SUNG TAKE SOME TIME
We've been thoroughly enjoying the heady recent singles by Irish-born, New York-based sister duo Song Sung (check out List Picks 'Telling Tales' and 'Come To The Water' here). Arriving just two weeks ahead of their David Holmes (Unloved/Killing Eve)-produced debut album This Ascension is Ours, 'Take Some Time' is another tantalising preview. Intended as a sonic representation of "the very essence of the existential thought process, tackled on a walk around the block," subtly rippling synthesizers have an uncanny and uplifting effect as Georgina and Una McGeough airy vocals levitate above the instrumentation. Channelling nuances of Cocteau Twins, modulated bass guitar locks in with 80s-inspired drum machine beats, which intensify with the introduction of dramatic, reverb-drenched fills that see out the track. This Ascension is Ours will be released on the 31st of July via Late Night Tales' sister label Night Time Stories. -Holly Mullineaux
