SODDEN PELT LAST OF THE SEAGULLS

One of the most intriguing outfits in the alternative South London scene, Sodden Pelt make a dramatic return with ‘Last of the Seagulls’. The trudging call to arms places songwriter, musician and vocalist Paddy Hornby’s brooding vocals front and centre, resulting in a haunting and distinctly British take on an unhinged Western track. Shaded by deep cello lines and wiry tremolo-heavy guitar parts, there’s an uncanny marriage between the organic and electric elements of the piece that adds to the surrealness of it all. Growing in intensity as the track progresses, ‘Last of the Seagulls’ is an oddball opus that’ll be hard to forget about in a hurry. -Holly Mullineaux
