Dublin-based multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer Skinner has revealed his new single, ‘Calling In Sick’. The Irish No-Wave artist takes influence from the late 70s New York scene in his music, with that trademark rigid bass + drum combo supporting the mania of the two lead guitars that screech and crackle in conflict. His voice remains firmly in the 21st century, with his anguished screams able to keep up with the track’s build into full-on noise rock. “The song is about calling in sick to the world. Life is tough for most people right now and there is no downtime for most of us. Some days just feel like you're hurtling towards destruction and I just wanted to write a song that captures that feeling of anger and frustration of having to say enough is enough.” Skinner’s album, New Wave Vaudeville, is out on January 10th, via Faction Records. -Dan Peeke
