SIRENS OF LESBOS LET IT HURT

Swiss collective Sirens of Lesbos embrace adversity on their light-hearted new nugget 'LET IT HURT'. Opening to playful beats, a warped whistle introduces the addictive hook of the track before the pair's sugar-sweet vocals enter the frame. Doused in dub influences, from its jumpy bass line to the dizzy delays that permeate the mix, 'LET IT HURT' is uplifting and dangerously catchy. Radiating an infectious sense of carefree positivity, there's a kind of untouchable power in their lyrics as members Jasmina and Nabyla Serag explain: “We were in the studio, and as the beat played, we started singing along spontaneously. What came out was ‘let it hurt, hurt, hurt, let it hurt.’ There wasn’t much thinking involved—it just felt right...Then we had to figure out what it really meant and what we wanted to express. In the verses, we ultimately drew from our own relationship experiences.” Arriving alongside details of their hilariously-titled debut album i got a song, it’s gonna make us millions, Sirens of Lesbos are poised and ready to be everyone's new favourite band. -Holly Mullineaux
