SIRENS OF LESBOS HOW MANY MILES
Sirens of Lesbos is a collective of musicians from Bern, Switzerland, whose noble goal of reviving and modernizing the Worldbeat genre is resulting in some truly original work. Their latest track ‘How Many Miles’ was originally intended to be a song about traveling the world with their future children, yet it’s become something so much more through the lens of the current situation. With the limited travel restrictions, it’s not only future journeys with the unborn that this song represents, but also those plans with existing lives that have now fallen into the bracket of mystery. ‘How Many Miles’ is perfectly reflective for such thoughts. It’s eclectic, groovy, jazzy and kind of a bit weird, which is exactly why we love it. For those more keen-eared listeners, you may have already picked up on the similarities to The Fugees’ ‘How Many Mics’, which has been reworked by Sirens of Lesbos into something recognisable, but also distinctly unique. Be sure you go back and check out the group’s previous single ‘Zeus’ for even more eclectic Worldbeat goodness. - Hannah Thacker
