RUN REMEDY DISCIPLE

New Jersey-born Manchester-based artist Run Remedy grapples with queerness and her religious upbringing on her latest single, ‘Disciple’. It’s a cathartic track with a unique musical palette of influences. Her close-up voice and mellow acoustic guitar chords give the track that intimate singer-songwriter quality, but there is also a clear layer of experimentation with folk and rock within her cinematic textures. The black and white video that accompanies the track matches the almost nostalgic emotion of her lyrics. “It’s my song about how I made peace with ‘the ‘Lord’ and the ladies,” she says, reflecting on experiences with closeted religious girls who would “pray the gay away… I foolishly carried on with these girls even into uni… guess I had a type!”. Run Remedy is set to join Dilettante on her upcoming UK tour. -Dan Peeke
