Sydney-based indie duo Royel Otis have shared their latest single, ‘Velvet’. The band have developed a sound that lures listeners in with clever songwriting based on the nostalgia of 2000s indie but with endless memorable pop hooks and uniquely skeletal arrangements. This track stays in line with this recognisable sound, placing almost chanted vocals over a persistent chugging pattern from the guitar and keys. Despite the intensity of this rhythmic pattern, the track remains jangly and lighthearted as the duo deliver cathartic lyrics about self-acceptance. Their debut album, PRATTS & PAIN, is gearing up for release on February 16th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
